Testing for specific allergies helps us pinpoint the cause of discomfort. Testing is done by an allergist and is safe for both children and adults.
ALLERGY SKIN TEST =
A skin test is a common allergy test. It is accurate, safe, and minimally invasive. Blood tests are an option when skin testing is not.
ASPIRIN TEST =
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid or ASA) and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) – e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen or Advil, etc. –are widely used by people of all ages to treat pain and fever.
EXERCISE CHALLENGE TEST =
An exercise challenge is designed to test lung function during exercise. A baseline lung function is measured.
FOOD CHALLENGE TEST =
A food challenge test is a medical procedure during which a food is eaten slowly, in gradually increasing amounts, under medical supervision.
LOCAL ANESTHETIC TEST =
Hypersensitivity to local anesthetics is rare but could be diagnosed through allergy testing. During the test, we lightly prick the skin on the arm with a plastic applicator that contains a tiny amount of anesthesia.
